Before I went buying the fabrics for the dress I already knew the fabric I imagined didn't exist, at least not in the fabric stores near me, so I had no choice but to dye the fabric myself. I was really worried about the dyeing fabric because I had never dyed before and the fabric I was suppose to dye was polyester chiffon, so I wasn't sure if the color would be dark enough.
for dying I used tropical green and olive green from Dylon |
As I had expected the colors didn't come out as dark as I wanted. tropical green was okay, but I would've wanted olive green to be darker. Much darker. But I can't blame the colors for that, they were easy to use and and did their job. It was because of the polyester. But I didn't manage to find any seethrough fabrics that would have been 100% cotton, or at least 50% cotton... ARGH
Anyways I continued making the dress with those fairylike fabrics o (◡‿◡✿)
I don't have many pictures of the progress because I tend to get so into sewing that I forget to take them :D so here's the pictures of the dress when it is almost finished. I later added white lacy ribbon under the lightgreen ribbon.
And finally pictures of me wearing my graduation dress in my graduations O(≧▽≦)O (for some reason it looks white in the pictures, but it's clearly light green in person XD)
